AAMI AFL STATE OF ORIGIN

WA experienced an AFL takeover this past weekend in the lead up to the sold-out 2026 AAMI AFL Origin match at Optus Stadium, and some lucky BLJFC families got to be a part of the show and a chance to see and meet star players including Toby Greene, Nick Daicos, Tom Barrass and Chad Warner just to name a few. Our very own Bullcreek boy, Ben Cousins, was also in attendance and made time for some photos with our kids.

Adding to the hype was a live televised 90-minute broadcast event – Origin Countdown – which took place at Optus Stadium’s Southern Oval on Thursday 12th February and featured some of the AFL’s best hosts, personalities and past legends. The broadcast was filmed live from various locations across WA, and aired on Channel 7 showcasing the State to a national audience of hundreds of thousands of viewers plus a few of our kids all decked out in the Bullcreek Leeming blue and white!

BLJFC was also selected as a finalist for the celebrity Zipline challenge, but unfortunately was narrowly pipped at the finish with past player Campbell Brown finishing just before Brent (Boomer) Harvey.

And a few of our little champions had the thrill of a lifetime running into Optus Stadium with AFL legend Kane Cornes during the AAMI State of Origin footy pre-match entertainment last Thursday night! Broadcast to millions, the kids proudly showcased their skills alongside one of the greats, soaking up the electric atmosphere and creating memories they’ll never forget. It was a special moment of fun, passion and community spirit that captured the heart of footy fans ahead of the big game. Well done kids, you did the club proud!
